Felicity Carter is a prolific wine industry journalist and speaker who tackles tough topics on the global business of wine with finesse. Based in Europe, Felicity is the founder of the Drinks Insider podcast, research and content consultancy, as well as Editorial Director of Areni Global, the fine wine think tank headquartered in London. Previously, Carter was founding Executive Editor of The Drop at Pix, editorial consultant for Liv-ex, and Editor in Chief of Meininger’s Wine Business International, which she built into the world’s premier wine business publication, with subscribers in 38 countries. Her work has appeared in The Age and Sydney Morning Herald newspapers in Australia, and in The Guardian US, among many others.
A self-described “military brat,” Felicity was born in Europe and is well-traveled. While living in Australia, she worked as a copywriter and as a reporter covering myriad topics from arts to oil and gas before moving to Europe with a journalism career opportunity. She has firmly planted her presence in Europe, based in London, while traveling and covering the international wine market. Among the many topics she has researched and reported on, her in-depth coverage on wine and health and the business of wine are two areas we have been following regularly. Recently she launched a Wine & Health series of her Drinks Insider podcast. Aside from wine topics, Felicity has a keen interest in public health. She has covered many topics on science and medicine in her journalism career.
Amid the shrinking media landscape and the growing pool of writers hungry to place a story and earn a byline, Felicity has managed to establish herself as an in-demand editorial strategist, speaker, wine juror and thought leader on wine topics. Still, she has found time in career to write about subjects that pique her interest such as travel and animals (including traveling with animals). On her DrinksInsider website, Felicity shares that her greatest professional challenge was “writing about European cities for Delicious magazine and eating 32 French meals in four days.”
